Olut znamena finsky pivo nebo taky OL-Universities of Turku, takze je to skupina lidi behajicich orientak a zaroven studujicich v Turku. A na vetsine “treninku” se nejen beha orientak, ale vetsinou zabavny orientak s resenim ukolu a nejakym tim alkoholem. Sitz je specialni druh party, pocitam ze exportovany ze Svedska vzhledem k tomu, ze jenom svedsky mluvici Finove vedi poradne jak se to dela a k cemu to je . Vpodstate je to vecere (predkrm, hlavni chod, zakusek, kafe), ktera se ale protahne na nekolik hodin, protoze hlavni naplni sitzu neni jidlo, ale zpev. Zpivaji se (finsky, svedsky i anglicky) specialni pisne urcene pro tuto prilezitost pojednavajici zejmena o piti alkoholu, piti alkoholu pres miru, zenach, muzich, vztazich mezi nimi a vubec o zivote. Vtip je v tom, ze konec kazde pisne se oslavi pripitkem, a protoze se zpiva hodne a casto, tak je to docela hukot. Jo a taky se hodne stoji a zpiva na stole a podobne legrace. Mne se vzdycky libilo, kdyz se clovek opiji tak nejak s naplni…:)

The season is over and my position in Finnish ranking at the moment is 18th, which is absolutely GREAT! For last four years I have never managed to be among the first twenty and this year when I do consider myself “retired” I did. Unbelievable! Or maybe believable – I was not injured or sick basically all year and we have had very good trainings in TuS (especially gym with Vroni and indoor trainings with Janne). It was rather easy to follow TuS trainings and train together with TuS girls, so it didn’t feel like tough training-year at all. Since I didn’t have any ambitions this year I started my season in D21A, but after two clear victories and decided to run Elite again. But I refused to run any long distance – it is my least favorite discipline – and run only middle, sprint and relay races.

Ranking 2005

Tak jsme zase pro zmenu o vikendu bezeli zavody, letos predposledni. Ale uz je toho dost, protoze je kosa jak z nosa! Je nacase s tim mrznutim na zavodech prestat. Takze jeste za dva tydny na jih do Svedska (Smålandskavlen) a pak uz snad zacneme travit vikendy jako “normalni” lidi. Trenink, obed, trenink, protahovani, spanek a tak Delsi story o tom kdo vyhral (no my jsme to nebyli) si muze precist (procvicit) v anglictine tady.
Jinak jsme zhledli Batman Begins (80%), Stoparova pruvodce po galaxii (70%)

…is a Finnish version of Swedish 25manna, but better, as almost everything Especially the terrain is usually very good and courses are more demanding. This year it was even more interesting, because the closest control of Jukola 2006 should be placed only 1km from Hallikoviesti competition centre. So everything suggests that next year Jukola will be in typical Varsinais-suomen terrain. I personally like more when Jukola is somewhere far, because it is a good opportunity to train in different terrain, but I guess everybody will be satisfied since “typical Varsinais-suomen” terrain is veeery nice. Back to Halikkoviesti – 15members team, given amount on girls, juniors, kids and seniors in team, but without saying who has to run which leg, so big space for team tactics. And also good experience for me to run the same course with men (bit different speed you know).-B-

This year’s winner was DELTA. It was quite exciting to follow this year’s Halikko. They were few teams in the leading pack, Kalevan rasti (as always) DELTA, TuS, last year’s winner Lynx, Swedish clubs, etc. In the middle of the race DELTA was disqualified (but was allowed to continue in the race), so Kalevan seemed to be secured, but when it was about the last changeover it was all made clear and DELTA was back the race. The problem was that some small girl from DELTA did not punch the finish control. Eventually DELTA took a glory with Valentin Novikov on the last leg, second place went to Sweden, Leksand, with Kalle Dalin and the bronze went with Antti Harju to Helsinki, no sorry to Joensuu.
I was again starting in our team. Everything went well; full speed no mistakes, so I was surprised when I came 2:12 behind the first team. They were also some other guys running well, but still coming surprisingly behind the leader (for ex. Jarkko Liuha leading on 2nd radio in 2/3 of the race made his final loop without any mistake; however, the difference in the goal was 1:17). Just for illustration, best times course A: 29:41 Leonid Novikov, B: 31:49 Matti Koivisto, C: 30:53 Robert Heczko, and D: 30:08 Jarkko Liuha.
Too big forking it seems…
Well enough of speculation, Bohdana was running well on her 4th leg. After all 15 legs our team finished on 15th place, 15 min behind the winner.

Wedding pictures
After 2.5 weeks we are back at ‘home’. All started with a crazy driving via Baltic countries, and running Czech’s champs. The whole following week was just driving, calling, and generally organizing our wedding. It was very, very demanding week though.

And a short honeymoon in a small, plain hut in Krkonose Mountains. Enjoying time when one doesn’t need to do anything, walking in the mountains, sauna, etc. Finally I got to the highest point in Czech (Snezka 1602m). Some pictures here.
Back to reality: driving again back to Finland, but this time via Germany and Sweden.
All finished yesterday by participating in 25manna nearby Stockholm. Nice, easy and very fast race. I started our first TuS team and Bohdana run the third leg. With few problems on some legs we finished 21st almost 24 min after Kalevan Rasti.
