Viikkorastit

beeee

After compulsory 8 hrs in the factory you get home more or less tired, so staying home, eating and sleeping would usually be the best.
Someday, however, you just can’t resist going out right away. So you take a car and drive max. 30 min, change clothes, pay 4 EUR and off you go to enter the paradise. Yes, viikkorastit!

Check few paradise samples:
by day #1 #2 #3
by night #1 #2

Viikkorastit = O-trainings for everyone during the weekdays, organized by local clubs, EMIT, results/splits same day

PS: The picture has nothing to do with this post, but it’s from Norway and I just like it ;)

2006

Yep, that was my O-season…

Luckily I’m still able to say ‘ens kaudel’, the most common Finnish expression by the end of the season, which is somehow a positive sign.
I have not given up yet!
At the moment, however, I have no clue what kind of season the 2007 will be, how much I will be able to train, where, etc. At least I’d like to make the following times:

1 km 2:38
3 km 8:50
5 km 14:55
10 km 31:30

News

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

Actually, all these news are old news and nothing much is new. I finally became a PhD., although my dissertation was already 1.9. I still had one 5 credit’s exam left, which I successfully passed last Friday. And last week I even got my diploma, so now it is really official. BTW: the dissertation – it seems to me unbelievable how many people have time to read newspapers carefully through. There was a very short notice in Turun Sanomat about my dissertation (size 3 x 3cm), but a lot of people had congratulated me based on this notice. Surprise, but it feels good of course.

Another old news is that I’m still pregnant. Yes, “still” is the right word. But the never-ending-pregnancy story should have its end in exactly 5 weeks. This means, that I started my maternity leave yesterday. It was about the time, my stomach is growing to unbelievable (at least for me) size. I mean if it is going to continue to grow with the same speed, then I will explode before giving birth. No really, you cannot stretch any material forever! The other option is that for some reason the doctors and nurses are hiding before me that I’m expecting twins.

With 8 kilos “overweight” I became little bit more tolerant. For example, I don’t consider any more the nordic walking to be a total waste of time, which does not improve anybody’s fitness. Together with swimming these are the only “trainings” I’m able to do at the moment. And surprise, surprise, they are not as easy as they used to be. Nevertheless, I’ve never been very keen on either of these activities and that attitude has not changed. I miss so much the endorphins from fast running!

halikkologoFinito, the last O-race in Finland this year!

The plan was to come to the changeover as the first one, just to make some nice farewell to my Finnish saga. Up to 20th min it went according to the plan, but then the Earth has cracked wide opened, big-black-hole appeared and I started to faaaall deep down, 1,5 min mistake and everything was gone! Bloody-fast chase afterwards, 11th place on the changing bar 1:17 behind Miika Hernelahti from DELTA.

All in all, it was again very nice competition, great map, superb terrain and of course top-level-courses! Overall 4th place about 6 min behind Kalevan Rasti brings some positive feeling for upcoming winter hard labour.
